Written by someone who actually did it
Every guide here comes from going through the Portuguese system in person — not from rewriting other blogs.
I moved to Portugal in 2021 and went through the bureaucracy myself: the NIF, Finanças, the queues and the forms. I kept notes on every step and every dead end — this site is those notes, cleaned up and kept current.
I use my first name only and don't post a photo: this is a reference site, not a personal brand. What matters is whether the information is right, and how you can check it yourself.
How we check facts
Every number, fee and legal reference on this site is traced to a primary source before it's published, and re-checked when the rules change. The source sits next to the claim, so you never have to take our word for it.
Portal das Finanças, Diário da República, and the laws themselves — not other blogs.
Each fact carries the date it was last checked against the source, machine-readable too.
If a rule changes or we got something wrong, tell us and we fix it fast.
